To celebrate the Grand Opening of the new Bristol Health Medical Care Center I’m posting this short video I produced of parts of the construction and completion of the project on Hope Street that will “hopefully” begin the revitalization of the the downtown Center Square development. City leaders have said a new mixed use building will break ground later this summer and talks with a third party are being negotiated now. But let’s also thank those local businesses that have helped bolster the idea of a revived downtown like JR Rusgrove and his wife Leanne Rusgrove who opened Main Street Pint & Plate a little over a year ago in the old Barley Vine space and the soon to be open Better Half Brewing on North Main Street across from Center Square.

Demolition of the old Bristol Center Mall was completed in the Spring of 2008. A deal to construct a new, $26 million medical care center on the southeast section of the property on the corner of Riverside Avenue and Main Street was brokered three years ago. Construction of Hope Street began in 2017 through the Center Square Development. Bristol Health’s new 60,000-square-foot medical office and lab building took just over a year to complete. The medical office and lab building is “Hoped” to be the first step in revitalizing the long vacant property.

The state-of-the-art Medical Care Center will house physicians of multiple specialties. City leaders look to draw commercial, residential and retail development to downtown. The Medical Care Center will serve their first patients on Monday, June 10, 2019.
